Innovative Communities Connecting & Networking (iccan)
Creating New Opportunities for the Region Though Videoconferencing:
Community Learning Network (CLN), Literacy Alberta (LA), and Volunteer Alberta (VA) are collaborating on the ICCAN project to develop a video conference network in Alberta. Funding from Advanced Education and Technology's Access to the Future Fund makes the project possible.
Business Efficiencies:
Videoconferencing is a powerful tool for connecting and networking with others without having to travel. By spending less money, time and energy on travel to attend meetings, training and seminars valuable resources can be reallocated to programming and services.
Learning and Professional Development:
With videoconferencing, courses and seminars can be attended by more learners. Communities can tap into global learning venues, guest speakers/experts and special expertise. Videoconferencing has potential for residents of smaller communities. The ability to teach or attend courses, lead seminars, offer new programming options, offer professional development opportunities and share expertise is enabled across the province.
Virtual Venue for Sharing Ideas:
Videoconferencing enables participants to engage in learning and discussions with others around the province, leading to more collaboration and creating more partnerships. Opportunities for personal growth, lifelong learning, professional development, more efficient business practices, problem solving and networking grow as access to simple videoconferencing becomes more widely available.
